Driver’s license for a caravan

Before you book a date, check whether you need a special driver’s license, and whether your car can pull a caravan. How to do it?

Calculate the DMC of the kit

Find the maximum GVW of the trailer you can tow with your vehicle in section O.1 in the registration certificate of your car. The GVW of our trailers must not be greater than the value that appears in this box.

Example calculation of the GVW of a set of vehicles:

Check the permissible total weight of your vehicle and use the formula below.

• Driving license category B – GVW of the trailer: e.g. 1600 kg + GVW of your car X = maximum 3500 kg
• Driving license category B96 – GVW of the trailer, e.g. 1600 kg + GVW of your car X = maximum 3500-4250 kg
• Driving license category B + E – GVW of the trailer, e.g. 1600 kg + GVW of your car X = maximum 7000 kg

Before you arrive, make sure at the vehicle inspection station that the electrical outlet to the trailer is in working order and does not require additional repair.
