How do you keep your RV tidy while you’re away?
How do you keep an RV tidy? The best – all the time. By maintaining order and cleanliness every day during the trip, you ensure that you have much less work to do before you pass the RV. And besides, staying in a clean interior is certainly much more pleasant.
Practical tips for keeping your RV clean:
Here is a collection of practical advice, on how to keep your RV neat and clean while traveling:
- doormat in front of the entrance – A large doormat with tabs placed in front of the entrance door to the camper will allow you to easily and quickly get rid of mud and dust, so you will not bring sand into the living area.
- packing things in Ikea-type bags – You have easy access to them, they fit in closets, storage rooms or in the garage. If you sort things properly you only need to take out the bag you need, there is no need to search through large suitcases or look among things packed in bulk.
- plastic containers – Very useful when traveling in a camper are plastic containers of various sizes, in which you can store cleaning products, food or children’s toys. This makes it easy to find the things you need, rather than having them lying around.
- upholstery protection – Washing soiled upholstery involves an additional cost. Therefore, if you anticipate that the upholstery in the camper may get seriously dirty (for example, your children like to eat with a lot of “flair”) then take care to cover the seats and sofas with, for example, an extra bedspread or blanket. This will save you money on washing upholstery.
- mattress protection – if your toddlers still fall asleep, make sure that the mattress on which the children sleep is properly secured. It is definitely easier (and cheaper and faster) to throw away the wet foundation than to wash the entire mattress.
- cleaning on a regular basis – if you take care to maintain order during the trip, cleaning the RV at the end will not be a problem.
Preparing the RV for return to the rental company
Before starting cleaning the motorhome It is worth unpacking all luggage and accessories, empty all closets and storage compartments. An empty camper will definitely be easier to bring to order.
If the RV has been well-maintained throughout the trip and there will be no serious dirt in it, then Before returning the vehicle to the rental company the traditional cleaning of the RV – Emptying the tanks (emptying the toilet in the camper, emptying the gray water tank), emptying the trash can, washing the countertops, kitchen, refrigerator, bathroom and vacuuming the interior of the vehicle. The area of an RV is not large, so these works usually go quickly and efficiently.
If the upholstery or mattresses have become dirty during the use of the RV, it is necessary to have them professionally washed, so as to remove traces of dirt.
Once the camper is clean inside you can take care of washing the vehicle from the outside. The most convenient way to do this is at a touchless car wash -. washing the camper from the outside usually does not take more than 30 minutes. Many such outlets have stations suitable for washing tall vehicles.
