Camper deposit insurance when traveling abroad
Insurance of the camper deposit – or more precisely: the deposit when renting an RV – is a solution for people who appreciate complete peace of mind. In the vast majority of cases, the camper rental deposit is returned to our clients in full, because we have no reservations about the condition of the returned vehicle. However, even the best and most careful drivers can have accidents collisions or minor parking damage, but also or damage beyond our control, caused by third parties. Such damage includes, for example, scratched paint, broken mirrors or dented bodywork. Contribution insurance – RV rental
If you are planning travel by camper van outside Poland, you can take advantage of the opportunity to waiver of financial responsibility in case of damage to the rented motorhome consisting of damage to the vehicle as a result of a collision or traffic accident during the trip. According to the provisions of paragraph 9 from the terms and conditions of insurance:
“Removal of the deductible on a rented vehicle.
- The subject of the insurance is the amount of the Insured’s deductible, specified in the rental agreement for one vehicle: a passenger car or camper van (not older than 10 years, with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons, carrying up to 9 persons), which the insured under the rental agreement has covered on its own in connection with the occurrence of damage to the vehicle as a result of a collision or traffic accident during the trip
- We will consider a traffic collision to be any traffic incident that involved only property damage. We speak of a collision when it occurs:
- contact, damage to the vehicle/vehicles as a result of either driver not exercising due care
- hit pedestrian, hit animal
- incidents involving a cyclist and another traffic participant, animals
- Other traffic situations that pose a risk to traffic safety (including tire or windshield damage)
- harmless incidents in the parking lot, which include: scratches and abrasions of the car body, denting the door or fender, damage to the side mirror, breaking the headlight
- A traffic accident is an event occurring in land traffic, caused by an unintentional violation of the safety rules in force in this traffic, resulting in damage to a vehicle and the death of one of the participants or bodily injury causing a violation of bodily organ functions or disorder of health lasting more than 7 days.”
An example of when deposit insurance applies:
- Damage to the body when maneuvering in a parking lot or campground.
- Third-party mirror breakage.
- A dent in the bumper during a traffic collision.
Examples of when deposit insurance is not applicable:
Damage to the interior or equipment of the vehicle is not covered by deposit insurance. Examples:

- damage to the awning
- damage to the mattress
- ADBLUE complement
- camper cleaning
The most important information about camper deposit insurance
- The amount of insurance deductible is up to 5,000 PLN (this is the amount we use for most of our Premium and Prestige campers, and we charge a deposit of 8,000 PLN for Prestige+ and Premium+ campers)
- The RV you rent must be no older than 10 years, have a GVW of up to 3.5 tons, and must be able to carry up to 9 people ( most of our RVs meet the GVW requirements, plus all of our RVs are much younger than 10 years old!)
How does deposit (deductible) insurance work in case of damage to a rented RV while traveling abroad?
- It is important to take pre-rent photos and photos showing the reported damage.
- The damage must be reported to TU no later than the day of return. You report the damage to the TU (without our intermediation or participation) and you provide them with the necessary documents:
- vehicle rental agreement
- A document stating the deductible specified in the rental agreement
- document confirming the rental payment (transfer receipt)
- confirmation from the police about the occurrence of a collision, traffic accident (if applicable)
- The protocol drawn up by the rental company and signed by the Insured when returning the vehicle – when returning the vehicle, we do a receipt protocol including a description of the damage, the customer should know what is to be written in this place.
- Confirmation of payment of the deductible (deposit ) by the Insured (e.g. confirmation from the account)
- pictures of the damage and a description of the damage
- An invoice from a service center/workshop in the case of more serious damage requiring repairs. For smaller damages, a description of the KoKo Kamper (including the cost of the purchase, travel to the service center, driver’s day trip or a trailer, etc.) will suffice.
- NOTE! At KoKo Kamper, we deduct the appropriate amount from the deposit paid, and you settle directly with the TU.
Rental of an RV without a deductible for damages
RVs are high-value vehicles, so rental companies normally require a deposit when renting a vehicle. The security deposit represents the so-called. The customer’s deductible for damage caused by the customer’s fault, whether it is a traffic accident or collision, or scratches on the paint or damage to the mirror while maneuvering. In the case of using campervan deposit insurancethe insurer covers the cost of damage caused during the rental of the campervan through the fault of the renter.
